ERDF Funding Opportunity


Programme Summary

Community Led Local Development is a bottom-up community development initiative to deliver economic outcomes in the most deprived areas.  The programme aims to increase employment and skills, social enterprise, and social inclusion in order to support social regeneration within deprived areas.

Projects must demonstrate that activity targets the most deprived areas and priority will be given to activity targeting the top 20% deprived wards. (ID 2010).

South Durham CLLD area covers: Spennymoor, Coundon and Leeholme, Bishop Auckland, St Helen Auckland, West Auckland and Shildon. A full map and postcode checker can be found at

ERDF Non- Capital Project Call details


We are looking for project proposals in the South Durham CLLD area to support businesses and individuals around the following priority themes:

  • Developing Growth & Enterprise – Supporting businesses to grow and develop
  • Stimulating Entrepreneurialism – Support to enable businesses and individuals to become enterprise ready

Minimum Grant Value for Projects is expected to be £10,000

Applicants can apply for up to 60% of the total project cost from the programme

Project delivery can be up until 31st December 2022.

The application is a two-stage application process.

The first stage involves completing an Expression of Interest form.

This call is open from 11th December 2020 and will be reviewed regularly by the Local Action Group (LAG). The first review point is 21st Jan 2021.

Who Can Apply

Organisations who are formally constituted and able to provide a copy of their organisation’s constitution, memorandum and articles of association/ rules or registration numbers at application stage. This may include the following but is not exhaustive:

  • Voluntary & Community Sector Organisations
  • Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
  • Community Interest Companies
  • Registered Charities
  • Companies Limited by Guarantee, Companies Limited by Shares
  • Parish or Town Councils, and
  • Local Authority.
  • Higher and Further Education establishments
